ScreenQR Support

Find answers to frequently asked questions about how ScreenQR works securely on your Mac.

Why does ScreenQR need Screen Recording permissions?

ScreenQR uses macOS Screen Recording capabilities to continuously scan your display for QR codes. Without this permission, the app cannot "see" the codes in order to parse them. We strictly use this permission to process images locally via Apple's integrated Vision framework.

Are my screen recordings saved or sent anywhere?

Absolutely not. ScreenQR processes captured screen frames directly in the volatile memory (RAM) of your Mac in real-time. Frames are instantly discarded after being checked for QR codes. We never save, transmit, or share any of your screen contents. The application operates 100% offline.

How do I grant or revoke Screen Recording permissions?

When you first launch the app, macOS will prompt you to grant this permission. If you missed it or wish to toggle it later, you can manage it by navigating to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording and toggling the switch next to ScreenQR.

Does this app require an internet connection?

No. ScreenQR performs all QR code detection locally on your device and does not require an active internet connection to function. In fact, for your security, the application does not have the network entitlements necessary to access the internet.
